Organizational Development
In order to be a cohesive and purpose-driven public health department, all members of the team must subscribe to the same vision and mission. Local public health leaders should develop plans to drive their departments towards those goals. These organizational and management skills are crucial professional capabilities for successful public health leaders in today’s challenging environment. They are also important elements of the public health accreditation process.
The materials in this chapter provide local public health leaders the resources needed to develop an organizational vision, mission, and strategic plan. Additional resources for performance and quality improvement, public health accreditation, and cultural competency are also included.
